At Transformational Medicine, Dr. Emily Takeuchi Miller, or “ Dr. Em” as she prefers, enjoys seeing patients of all ages and is committed to helping them live well no matter what their current condition. Each and every patient has a unique story to tell and Dr. Em believes that the best medicine is performed when doctors and patients work together as partners to achieve optimal health. She looks for the root cause in each case and utilizes different modalities to empower patients on their healing journey. As an avid athlete growing up, Dr. Em experienced first hand the importance of healthy lifestyle habits for both the mind and body and preventative care.
Dr. Em earned her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University California. She then went on to complete a one year general medicine residency at the Bastyr University Clinic. She also holds a BA in Biology from Bryn Mawr College in Philadelphia with a minor in Japanese. Prior to entering medical school she spent three years in Japan teaching English to children grades 5-9.
By utilizing various diagnostics tests and a multidisciplinary approach rooted in evidence-based natural medicine, Dr. Em helps patients address a wide variety of conditions including Allergies, Anxiety, Asthma, ADD, ADHD, Insomnia, Pain, Depression, Fatigue, Headaches, High Blood Pressure, PMS, Digestive Issues, Hormonal Imbalance and Adrenal Function. Her treatments involve a mixture of therapeutics, including clinical nutrition, botanicals, homeopathy, vitamins, biofeedback and hydrotherapy.
Dr. Em has presented research at several conferences including the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine and the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback. Her research is centered around the use of biofeedback in retraining the nervous system to be more resilient to stress. Her special interests include primary care medicine, pediatrics, and Mind-Body medicine/biofeedback. She is a native of Tucson Arizona and is excited to come back home and serve the community in which she was raised.
